The Hancock group at the Max Planck Institute for Plant Breeding Research in Cologne is looking for a student to join our research group, which focuses on understanding the molecular basis of adaptation to the environment using a combination of population genetics, quantitative genetics, field biology and functional genetic analysis.
The student will assist in projects involving genome-scale population genetic and/or bioinformatic analysis.
The ideal candidate has experience with one or more high-level programming languages (e.g., Python, Java, C/C++) and R and has taken courses in population genetics and/or bioinformatics and/or quantitative genetics.
In addition, the applicant should be organized, able to work as part of a team, and have excellent attention to detail. The working language of the laboratory is English. Therefore, strong English language skills are necessary.
